Akademyang Filipino held the second forum in its Conversations series entitled “Pros and Cons: Should the Philippines adopt a federal form of government?” last Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the Anahaw Room of the Manila House.
This critical and significant national issue was discussed by former Supreme Court Chief Justice Hilario Davide, Jr. and former Senate President Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel, Jr., who presented opposing views. Former Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Solita Collas-Monsod and DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya provided commentary. Senior Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio and former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales moderated the open forum which followed, where members of Akademyang Filipino, government and Embassy representatives, media, and Manila House members shared their thoughts and directed questions to the panel.
