On September 28, 2019, Akademyang Filipino held the third forum in its Conversations series entitled “Economic Complexity: How increasing product diversity and collective know-how drives equitable national prosperity” at Manila House, Bonifacio Global City.
John B. Echauz, CEO of Standard Insurance and one of the Philippines’ business development leaders, discussed Ricardo Hausmann’s highly regarded concept of economic complexity — how a country’s productive capabilities determine its economic prosperity — and how it can be applied to solving the challenges to sustainable Philippine growth.
Jose Valetin Pantangco, Head of Corporate Planning at First Philippine Holdings, and Diane Dugan-Eustaquio, Executive Director of Philippine accelerator IdeaSpace Foundation, each provided commentary. Senator Sonny Angara, Akademyang Filipino member and Trustee, moderated the open forum.
